Some residents of Agbado-Okeodo Local Council Development Area of Lagos State have called on the state Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, to repair the Ikola-Ilumo Bridge.
Ikola-Ilumo lies between the Ipaja and Command, in the Agbado-Oke Odo, LCDA.
The residents, in a statement on Thursday, said the bridge was collapsing and many lives might be lost if nothing was done on time.
The statement read in part, “The only bridge linking Ikola-Ilumo to the outside world is fast caving in due to erosion. A side of the foot of the bridge has washed off, thereby exposing the underbelly which keeps washing off any time it rains.
“Unless this side of the bridge is repaired immediately, the bridge may soon collapse, as the laterite underneath the tarred upper surface has been compromised greatly. We appeal to the governor to kindly order the repair of the bridge to save the lives of residents.”
