My first…

with Funmi Awelewa

When was the first time you appeared on television?

The first time that I ever appeared on the television was when I was featured in the movie, ‘Ojiji Ola,’ in  2013. It was a very wonderful and nerve racking experience for me because I was still a greenhorn and I was in the midst of some professional actors. Luckily for me, the people on set were very friendly and they made the job easier and more relaxing for me.

What is the name of the first movie script you wrote and what year?

In the past, I had scribbled down some stories but I never really took them seriously till I wrote ‘Aromimawe’ some years back. When I was done with it and began to read through the script again, I felt it was too inspiring for me to just hide somewhere so I made it into a movie which was released two years ago.

What is the name of the first movie you shot?

My first movie was ‘Aromimawe’ and it was released in 2015. The experience was tough but thank God, I didn’t give up on my dreams. I still relish every moment because it was a worthwhile experience and a milestone in my career.

In what movie did you play your first lead role?

I bagged my first lead role in the movie ‘Koto.’

What is the name of the first award you won?

Ironically, the first award I bagged was based on my style and not my skill as an actress. The first award I ever got was given to me as the best dressed actress in 2009. It was a tailoring award.

What is the name of your first crush?

The first person I ever had a crush on was the American singer, dancer and actor, Usher Raymond. What attracted him to me was the way he danced and his wonderful physique. I still feel he is a fine man.

Can you re-live the experience of your first kiss with us?

That was a very long time ago but all I can say is that my first kiss was accidental.

When was the first time you travelled out of Nigeria?

The first time I travelled out of Nigeria was in April 2013. I travelled for vacation and I had the time of my life.
