Traders at the popular Kara International Market in Sokoto State have called on the government and its relevant agencies to save them from the threat of land speculators.
According to the traders, who accused the Chairman of the goat/ram section, Alhaji Buba Gaggi, of selling a portion of the market meant for the parking of trailers and other vehicles, the development was threatening their sources of livelihood and personal safety as businessmen and women.
Chairmen of the horse/donkey, and cow/camel sections of the market respectively, Alhaji Kabiru Aliero and Alhaji Bashir Bello, told Saturday PUNCH that the illegal takeover of the said portion within the market by certain individuals, will be inimical to the growth of the place as free flow of traffic would be hampered, thereby hindering the growth of their businesses.
The section heads, who said that they had written a letter of complaint to the state government on the matter but had yet to receive a response, however, called for immediate intervention by the administration.
